ABOUT THE AREA

About the Area

THE TOWNSHIP THAT HOLDS THE STRIP

Paradise formed in 1950 as an unincorporated Clark County township, and it exists for a specific structural reason: to let the resort corridor grow under county governance rather than city rules. The arrangement stuck.

Today, Paradise holds the Strip, Harry Reid International Airport, and UNLV, and none of them carry a City of Las Vegas address in the legal sense, even though every visitor calls it Las Vegas.

That’s not a technicality that matters only to lawyers. That jurisdictional distinction affects zoning, licensing, and other property-related regulations, so buyers should verify the governing requirements for the specific address.

WHAT LOCATION BUYS

The premium here isn’t curb appeal. It’s proximity. Paradise’s central location provides relatively direct access from many neighborhoods to the resort corridor, airport, UNLV, and major employment and entertainment destinations. Pricing varies by property type and location.

Housing inventory skews older here than in the western master-planned communities, and it doesn’t apologize for that.

Every visitor calls it Las Vegas. The paperwork says otherwise.

LIFE AROUND HERE

UNLV’s main campus anchors day-to-day life at the township’s center: a working university campus with its own arena in the Thomas & Mack Center.

A few minutes away, Paradise Palms carries a real, Clark County-recognized historic designation. Its mid-century homes were designed for a Las Vegas that existed before the Strip looked anything like it does now.

Housing in the township’s Strip-adjacent zip codes skews more towards condo towers and rental inventory built for turnover. The residential pockets further away from the resort corridor feel more like an entirely different, quieter city.

Zip Codes and Architectural Styles

RELEVANT ZIP CODES

  • 89109: The Strip corridor itself, plus Paradise Palms and the guard-gated Las Vegas Country Club Estates just east of it.
  • 89119: The UNLV and airport corridor, anchored by Thomas & Mack Center and the university’s Paradise campus.
  • 89120: The township’s southern reach, further from the resort corridor and more residential in character.
  • 89169: The Convention Center corridor, mixing hotel, office, and multifamily product.

ARCHITECTURAL STYLES

Paradise Palms set the tone early with post-and-beam, Palm Springs-influenced Desert Modern design, and that mid-century character still defines the township’s oldest blocks. Guard-gated Las Vegas Country Club, dating to the late 1960s, carries a more traditional country club aesthetic. Everything closer to the resort corridor trends toward mid-rise and high-rise condo construction built in recent years.

  • Desert Modern and mid-century, concentrated in the Clark County-designated Paradise Palms historic district
  • Traditional country club architecture, concentrated in guard-gated Las Vegas Country Club
  • Mid-rise and high-rise condominium construction, concentrated along the Strip-adjacent corridor
  • Mixed multifamily and rental product throughout the township’s central and southern zip codes
